About Kangaroo Island

destinations_about_pic

Spanning 155 km from east to west, and boasting over 500 kilometres of pristine coastline – with stunning beaches, bush, caves and coves, and home to a diverse range of wildlife – Kangaroo Island is an escape into the wilderness like no other.
There is also so much else to do, with local farmers’ markets held the first sunday of each month, community markets, art galleries, and even the races, with the Kangaroo Island Cup being held annually.
October sees the island celebrate its own art, food and wine at the Kangaroo Island Art Feast, which offers many of the fine local produce the island is famous for, and Easter is home to the island’s Easter Art Exhibition.
Within a 45-minute drive of the lodges, are some of the regions most famous attractions, including Seal Bay, Remarkable Rock, Admirals Arch and Flinders Chase. To learn more about this unique destination, we recommend visiting the Tourism Kangaroo Island website.

Where are Kangaroo Beach Lodges?

map

A 60-minute drive from the island capital, Kingscote, our beach lodges are located on the coast at De Mole Farm. Follow a clearly marked right hand turn off the Playford Highway and access to the farm begins at the end of Flinders way, where you will take a private road through the property, ending at your Kangaroo Beach Lodge.  The journey is predominately on a sealed road with 14km of gravel road leading up to the farm.  A sturdy 2WD vehicle is adequate to reach Kangaroo Beach Lodges, however a 4WD is recommended for the winter months and in particular for the mobility impaired to ensure access to the beach via road.
